Premier Greens

The Most Enjoyable Course in the Valley

The course is consistently the best conditioned course in the valley. Our fairways are dark green and tournament striped all the way through spring, summer and fall. In 2006, we completed a major green renovation project and hired the Greenbrier’s course superintendent, Sean Baskette, to ensure our greens have the speed and the condition to be considered the best in Roanoke.

What makes a real country club is not the facilities but the staff that has committed their careers to making each visit to the club an exceptional experience. The staff at Hidden Valley is anxious for you to visit and experience Hidden Valley. We believe that you will feel at home on your first visit and desire the country club lifestyle we offer. Please let us know how we can serve you by calling the Pro Shop at (540) 389.8146 Option 1.

Walk to Remember
The course provides a beautiful walk throughout the property, the front 9 goes through the valley and the back 9 offers a great mountain experience.

Speed of Play
Golf at HVCC is the fastest golf course to walk or ride in the valley. This allows you more time for your other interests or commitments. The staff does a great job in educating our golfers on the importance of speed of play to ensure everyone has an enjoyable round.

Dick Wilson

Course Architect

Hidden Valley Country Club’s 18 hole layout was completed in 1952. The man behind the design was highly decorated Golf Course Architect Dick Wilson. Though Wilson worked in the golf industry for most of his life, it wasn’t until after World War II that he became a self-proclaimed Golf Course Architect. As seen at Hidden Valley Country Club, Wilson’s designs were famous for broad fairways and large putting surfaces that were mainly accessible by aerial approach shots. Strategically placed bunkers, mainly present around the putting surface, were his way of forcing a player to access the putting surface through the air. His use of “tongues” on the putting surface allowed for many strategic and difficult hole locations. Use of these “tongues” are present at Hidden Valley.

Along with Hidden Valley, Wilson designed 73 other golf courses throughout his career. Among these courses include world famous layouts such as Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida, Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Chicago, Illinois and TPC Blue Monster in Miami, Florida. Wilson’s unique approach to golf course architecture made his designs very influential to future architects around the world, including, among others, Rees Jones.
