Freddy Gómez- Director of Tennis

Freddy joins Hidden Valley after previously holding the position of assistant coach for the Virginia Tech women’s tennis team, his second stint with the university. He holds certification for USTA High Performance Coaching, United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), and USTA Sports Science L1 Coaching. He is a 2005 graduate of the University of Toledo, where he was varsity team captain and played #1 singles and doubles earning All-MAC team honors. He received his Master’s Degree in Science and Sport Management in 2008 from Louisiana State University. Freddy was also a #1 Ranked Player (Venezuela U16-18) and #312 World Jrs. ITF 1998.

 

 

Chris O'Keefe- Tennis Professional

Chris is a former top ranked junior player in the state of Virginia. She went on to have a stellar collegiate career, playing #1 singles all four years at Radford University. She was the Collegiate State Champion her freshman year and also advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament as a senior and was a College All American. Chris was inducted into the Radford University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998.

Before coming to Hidden Valley Country Club, she taught 20 years at Roanoke Country Club. Chris has trained nationally ranked juniors at the Smith/Stearns Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina. She is PTR certified with a professional rating. She enjoys working with all levels of junior and adult players from beginner to advanced!

 


Tom Gibbs- Teaching Professional/Facility Manager

Tom is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. He has been with Hidden Valley Country Club for 35 years, serving as the Director of Tennis for many years. He retired in 2009. He is currently the Facility Manager and continues to teach tennis. Tom is certified by the USPTA. Tom has worn many hats in the tennis industry. He was WTA Avon Futures Tournament Director (1986-1990), Men’s ATP Senior Tour Director (1988-1990) and won the 35-and-Over Virginia State Doubles Championship in 1988. Tom continues to have success playing USTA leagues at the 4.5 level.
